Council Meeting Minutes – May 10th, 2007 – UNAPPROVED MINUTES
First Meeting of the Northeast Community Lutheran Church Council

Call to Order
Frank Newman, President

Meeting called at 6:40 pm at Northeast Community Lutheran Church.

Council Members Present (8): Frank Newman, Pastor Evelyn Dahlke, Tom Fischer, Heather Fokken, Pastor Craig Pederson, Kathy Munson, Dan Scoggins, Marilyn Peterson. Not Present (3) Joe Tricola, Adelheid Koski, Marko Fields.

Transition Task Force: not meeting concurrently.

Task Force Report
Virginia Schnabel
• Carpet - TTF is obtaining carpet bids from Bob’s carpet for installation over tile, Home Depot will not install carpet over tile.
• Moving – need to pay moving company again. Convection oven to be moved from HT to NECL. Refrigerator from St. Paul’s to NECL, Pews from Emanuel back to St. Paul’s. This will cost about $1500 more.
• Fire Door – Scott Foster to be asked to fix the smoke detector fire door between the education wing and the sanctuary.
• Electrical Work – fire place spots to be added, outlets in storage room to be added for use with roasters, wiring in the coffee maker from St. Paul’s, and a new dishwasher.
• Plumber – need to hire a plumber for the coffee maker.
• Dishwasher – need to purchase a dishwasher.
• Gas line for convection oven – needs to be plumbed.
• Keys – Jennifer is keying the kitchen to match the kitchen storage room.
• Bus – Darrel reports it will cost $6000 for repairs, that have already been completed. This will be paid by HT. Insurance is paid, the required DOT certificate will be complete.
• Banner – paid $400 for the banner.
• Virginia proposed that we use auction funds and garage sale funds for these new TTF expenses.
• Auction proceeds – received a check for $1841 from auction house and $4900 in auction proceeds from HT.
• Phone System – Craig reports meeting with phone company and a bid is in the works.

Motion: To dedicate $6000 from the sale of antiques to the TTF. Motion: Newman

Changes to the “rooms” section of 4/26 minutes. Motion: To approve the 4/26/07 minutes with changes. Motion: Fischer

Summer Bible Camp
Pastor Craig, Pastor Evelyn • Last year, our children went to Camp Wapo. We have a special relationship with Luther Park.
• Discussion – our children should do some volunteer work for their scholarships.
• $1200 is already on hand for scholarships. We will have an Offering at a Sunday Service.
• Mercy Seat will be invited to bring their children along as well. Jennifer to invite Mercy Seat.

Motion: We dedicate $2500 for Bible Camp scholarships that will be at the disposal of our Pastoral staff. Motion: Frank

Meeting Usage

New Artist focused A.A. group requested to use our space on Tuesdays, 15-20 people.
Jennifer to work with groups on fees they will pay.
Discussed making a building usage policy with fees. Motion: Tuesday AA group and Friday AA groups to be granted their requests for use of our space. Motion: Fokken

Congregational Meeting

• Four items to be approved at the Congregational meeting, Calling of Pastors, Ratify the Council, Budget, Constitution.
• Distribute the Constitution and budget at Sunday, May 13th meeting.
• We will add the Camp expenditures and $1200 in revenue to the budget before distribution.
• Meeting will be in the sanctuary after church.
• Ballot – after some discussion, it was decided to use a use a written ballot.
• Potluck will be staffed by Community Dinner volunteers. Janitor will set up the tables.

Regular Council Meetings
Frank Newman Starting in June, Council meetings will be 2nd Mondays from 7pm to 9pm.

Executive committee will meet from 6:30 pm to 7pm before the council meetings.
